A FREE lunchtime performance by the members of the Foyle Future Firsts including music by Debussy, Poulenc and Varèse.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra Foyle Future Firsts Programme is a dedicated apprenticeship programme for 16 gifted and talented young instrumentalists embarking on professional orchestral careers.
Join members of the Foyle Future Firsts for a chamber music journey through 20th century France - with a transatlantic twist. The programme features two of the most important French composers, starting with Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, before skipping forward 50 years or so to Poulenc's Trois mouvements perpétuels for Nine Instruments. We take a distinctly American turn by hopping across the pond with Edgard Varèse, whose work Octandre was composed in the USA, where he spent the majority of his composing life. Finally, we round off back on home turf with an authentic American in Paris!
The principal funder of the Foyle Future Firsts programme is The Foyle Foundation.
Come along to the Level 2 Bar at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall to hear this concert. It's free and there are no tickets - just turn up.
