Dvorįk Symphony No. 9 (
From the New World)

Antonķn Dvorįk set sail for America in 1892. There he threw himself wholeheartedly into the musical life of the New World. He discovered the riches of American folk tunes, which formed the bustling motifs of his Ninth Symphonys first movement. He was moved by the touching honesty of the plantation songs, which formed the symphonys achingly beautiful cor anglais solo. And Dvorįk discovered, too, that he loved his native Bohemia more than ever. His loneliness gave the symphony a profound underlying melancholy, and made it one of the most enduringly popular of all time.
